FBX I/O
FBX in and out, with the options laid out plainly and the exact command shown beside them. It lays every take of a file onto one rig, combines clips into one file, and shows you what is inside an FBX before you open it.

What it does
Options you can read
Geometry, animation, scene and file settings in short groups, not one long scroll. Export everything, the selection, or a list of nodes the tool keeps for you. It all saves with a layout, so a game export layout brings its own setup.
Shows the command it runs
A box always shows the exact Python or MEL the Export button will run, starting from a reset so it does not depend on how the plug-in was left. Copy it into a script of your own and get the same file every time.
Every take, onto one rig
Maya imports one take at a time. Choose Every take and they all arrive on the one rig, laid end to end when they overlap, with a line saying where each will land before you press Import. Files whose first take is empty are handled.
Combine clips into one file
Drop in a walk, a run and an idle made on the same rig and get one FBX with a take per clip, or one long take. By default it runs in a separate Maya in the background, so your scene is never touched and you carry on working.
See inside a file before you open it
Point it at any FBX, whoever made it, and it lays out what the file holds in plain words: units, frame rate, every take with its frame range, each mesh with its point count and how many joints it is bound to, materials and textures. Nothing is imported, and your scene is not touched.
Better with Timeline++
If you also have Timeline++, importing every take opens a timeline per take, named and set to its frames. A set of timelines can be exported as takes in one file, or as a file each. This is optional. Everything else on this page works without it.
Honest about what it is not
It drives Maya's own FBX plug-in and does not replace it. What Maya's exporter can and cannot write is unchanged, and a few of its quirks show through. Takes are written as curves and not baked, because Maya loses a take from a baked split export.
