Tools / Renamer
Renamer
Rename the selected nodes as a batch, with a before-and-after preview that flags every clash before you commit.
Utilities Add-on Needs the base package
What it does
See it before you do it
The preview lists every name as it is and as it will be. It marks the ones that cannot go ahead: empty, invalid, used twice in the batch, or already taken by something else in the scene.
Replace, number, prefix, tidy
Search and replace, with regular expressions if you want them. Rename and number, with padding, a start, a step, or letters in place of numbers. Add or strip a prefix or suffix. And quick fixes for case, trailing numbers, namespaces and trimming characters.
One undo step
Each batch undoes in one step. The tool follows your selection, can take the children along, and shapes follow their transform's name without being asked.
A small tool, honestly
Maya renames one node at a time, or many if you write a script. This covers the ground in between and does nothing else. At two dollars, it pays for itself the first time it stops you renaming a joint chain into a clash.
