Install
Copy two things into one folder and restart Maya. That is the whole install, and it is the same for every tool here.
Maya 2024 to 2027. Windows is the tested platform — macOS and Linux are untested rather than unsupported: it may well run there as it is, but we will not claim it until it has been through the tests. The folders for all three are below, so you can try it. If you do, tell us how it went.
Nothing in the files needs editing, no paths to fix, and no environment variables to set. It goes in your own user folder, so it needs no administrator rights and nothing changes in Maya's own program folder.
Windows Documents\maya\modules macOS ~/Library/Preferences/Autodesk/maya/modules Linux ~/maya/modules
No folder called modules there? Make one, spelt exactly like that, all lower case.
Each zip holds two things: a file ending in .mod, and a folder. Copy both straight into modules, side by side — the file goes next to the folder, not inside it. That is how Maya finds it. For the base package on Windows it looks like this when you are done:
Documents\maya\modules\
tdToolKit.mod
tdToolKit\
Each add-on adds its own file and folder beside those two.
That is the whole install. There are no settings to change and nothing to run first.
There is a new shelf tab called tdToolKit with one button on it. Press it and the tool box opens beside the Attribute Editor, and its tab drags anywhere you want it. Add-ons are in its Tools menu, listed under what they are for.
If something goes wrong
Most install problems are one of these. If yours is not, write to support@twodollartools.com. The support page has a short form to paste in, and it gets you an answer faster.
- Nothing appeared after the restart. Check that modules looks like the picture in step 2: the .mod file beside its folder, both sitting directly in modules rather than inside another folder. Windows' Extract All puts the two things inside an extra folder named after the zip, so move them out of it.
- The shelf button is gone. It is put there once, so if you removed it, it stays removed. Open the Script Editor and run this in a Python tab:
import tdtoolkit tdtoolkit.show()
- An add-on is not in the Tools menu. In the tool box, open Dev > Tool Import Errors. It usually says exactly what went wrong, and it is worth sending us what it says.
- You bought an add-on on its own. Every add-on docks inside the tool box, which comes in the base package, so that needs installing too.
Installing an update
The same two things, copied over the ones already there. Your layouts, themes, shelves and settings live in a tdToolKit folder beside modules rather than inside it (Documents\maya\tdToolKit on Windows), so an update leaves them where they are. What's new lists every version.
Removing it
Delete the .mod file and its folder from modules, and restart Maya. Your layouts and themes stay in that tdToolKit folder until you delete it as well, so a reinstall picks up where you left off. Anything Mosaic or Shot Sculpt built in a scene stays in that scene — those are ordinary Maya nodes, and they are yours.
